"Adventures are necessary in education, too"…creative methods of cultivating talents to be searched
 
In this year’s Global HR Forum, places for intensively investigating the recent streams of world education and drafting the blueprint of future education will also be prepared. This is a result of shared perception, i.e., education is the most important factor in securing the future competitiveness of individuals as well as the country amid the global financial crisis and given the trend of slowdown of world economic growth.
 
In this session, Professor Jeffrey Pfeffer of organizational behavior at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business and Franci Phelan, CHRO of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will discuss  “Imperative : Sense of Global Citizenship and Social Responsibility.” Through this session, a global bond of sympathy on environments and ethics is expected to be formed; corporate social responsibility and importance of individuals’ responsibility as world citizens will also be discussed. In addition, ideal partnerships between businesses, civil society, and non-government organizations (NGO) will be tackled.

In plenary session Ⅲ, which seeks to discuss “Cultivating Next Generation Leadership,” a time for considering carefully how the contents and methods of education should be changed to enable students to adapt themselves to future society and meet social demand will be allotted. Discussions shall also be held as to the direction of continuing globalization as well as how the changes in technology will change the contents and methods of education.
 
As subcommittee meetings, diverse sessions will be prepared under the theme “educational talent policies to be prepared for the future.” In session A1, which will be chaired by Director Kim Gwang-Jo of UNESCO’s Asia-Pacific Region Division, discussions will focus on the “direction of educational talent policies for sustainable growth.”
 
In this session, Professor Greg Wang of the department of talent development of the University of Texas in the USA and Professor Hugh Lauder of the department of education, politics, and economics of the University of Bath in the United Kingdom will give presentations. In addition, a picture of the future education will be reviewed under various subjects such as "Role of Education: Pathway to the Advanced Society", "Emerging Schooling Issues for 21st Century Demands", "Inventive Higher Education Strategies", "Cultivating and Embracing STEM Talents", and "Creative, Character Education". Changes in the form of future studies following the development of information communication technology (ICT) will also be discussed. Professor Allen Hankins of the department of education of the University of Iowa in the USA and Director Barbara Olds of the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the USA will give presentations on the methods of cultivating talents vis-à-vis the changes in future society.
 
Preparation for the future through the linkage between education and employment will also be discussed. Deputy President Reinhold Weiß of the German Federal Institute of Vocational Training (BIBB) will lead the session under the theme “Vocational Education and Training for Green Growth" In this session, Head Researcher Deborah Roseveare of the education & training section of the Division of Education of OECD and others will participate in the discussions. Sessions will be also held under themes such as "Career and Technical Education as an Alternative Pathway to Success", "Improving Skills Development for Aging Population", "International Standardization of Non-formal Learning Services", and "Youth Transition to Work"
 
In the special session, Head Master Tony Little of Eton College, a prestigious traditional private high school in the United Kingdom, and President Joseph Polisi of Julliard School of Music will deliver lectures on “Keeping Tradition While Approaching to Modern Education” and “Interconnections between Policy, Business and Art,” respectively.
 
In-depth discussions on “Smart Innovation for Value Creation and Great Place to Work,” which has emerged recently as a social issue, and “Embracing Diversity and Inclusiveness” are also scheduled. These discussions will be chaired by Professor Seong, Sang-Hwan of the department of German education of Seoul National University and Professor Leva Josie of the department of educational policies of the University of Toronto. Professor Jeong Shin-Long of the department of education of the Beijing College of Education will give presentations on the tasks of education in the age of multi-cultures. Professor Robert Fouser of the department of Korean Language Education of Seoul National University and others will participate in the discussions.
 
Along with these sessions, the business session will have Executive Director Choi Jong-Yeon of Accenture Korea and Vice President Michael Leimbach of Wilson Learning Worldwide giving a talk on “Will they still learn like this 10 years later?” A session on “the characteristics of new-generation office workers” is also scheduled.
