NASA engineersㆍenergy experts: "A wonderful future awaits"
The “Global HR Forum2010” will hold a two-day “future predicting workshop” under the theme “A wonderful future awaits” on October 27~28. In this workshop, many persons who are the so-called “future dream team” such as Engineer Jonathon Trent of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the USA will give lectures on future industries and leadership.
Jonathon Trent is a bio engineer who participated in the “Omega Project” that was recently unveiled by President Barack Obama of the USA; he will give a lecture on “The age of dream energy will come” on the afternoon of October 27 and lead the workshop.
In the workshop, diagnoses and prospects of new energy resources that will substitute fossil fuels will be introduced. Green energy development plans that are currently being developed by various countries in the world will also be unveiled. The present state of development of alternative energies by business will also be provided as data. In addition, the stages of technological development to make energies that do not emit pollutants -- such as solar heat, wind power, and hydropower -- will be discussed through diverse sessions.
The participants will also deal with the problem of climate change as a global issue. How the climate change will affect the reorganization of energy industries in the future will be discussed.
The discussion in the area of energy will be led by Professor Hose Cordeiro of Singularity University in the USA, who is working in Silicon Valley in the USA. He will give a lecture on the actual industrialization of alternative energy resources. In the afternoon, Dean Andrew Grasovsky of the College of Science of the University of Massachusetts will present a lecture titled “opportunities are hidden in places that are not visible.” In particular, he will introduce the result of an analysis, i.e., new energy industries will completely change the existing industrial structures, during the workshop.
On the morning of the 28th, diverse lectures and workshops will be held under the theme “in the age of reorganization of wealth, take advantage of the opportunities offered by new businesses.” Businesspersons participating in the workshop can obtain a wide range of information on the opportunities offered by new businesses. Businesses expect a lot from the age of new energies, yet obtaining accurate information and implications is difficult. In this respect, Professor Walter Desco of the University of Toronto (Chairman of Idea Lab) will present his own insight as to what industries will bring about wealth in the future and allot some time to forecast the future together with the audience. In addition, Chairman Michael Jackson of Shaping Tomorrow will take “a travel to shape the future” together with the audience under the theme “dynamic future: what shall we do to be able to succeed?” These two futurologists are expected to help the audience gain views and information on the future that are different from the existing ones.
In the afternoon, Mary Jane Lidicot, the representative of Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) Korea will give a lecture on “what kind of leadership will be necessary in the future.” In particular, she will introduce methods of finding out the waves of changes that will occur in the future society and the results. She will emphasize that political, economic, and cultural leaderships that are completely different from the current ones will be necessary in the future.
Park Yeong-Suk, the UN Future Forum representative who will generally manage the workshop, expects the intensive workshop to be held for one and a half days to help a lot in predicting the future and obtaining opportunities from the future. “While learning the methodologies used by the world–renowned futurologist, they will be able to engage in exchanges," he said. This workshop will be jointly held by the UN Future Forum, Future Foresight Network, and World Future Society; separate (charged) registration for each participant is required.
