The current economic downturn has raised the importance of education as a crucial piece in the competitiveness equation both for individuals and nations as they prepare for the future ahead. Not surprisingly, many governments are considering policy alternatives to reform the education sector in pursuit of better outcomes. In these efforts, they may significantly benefit from an international comparison as it is difficult to conduct pilot studies on educational policies and much more so to measure their short-term outcomes. In this session, presenters will share their experiences in educational policymaking, existing policies and outstanding challenges in order to respond proactively to the shifting environment.
